He Speaks Volumes
About the Book
George Bowering was Canada’s first Parliamentary poet laureate, serving from 2002 to 2004. He is the author of novels, stories, books for teens, literary criticism, memoirs, and books about baseball – a passion of his. Starting in 2011, he let Rebecca Wigod interview him more than twenty times and lent her his diary. She gave this account of his life and work twenty chapters – his preferred length for a book – and structured it in “slices” (chapter titles include “The Varsity Man,” “The Husband,” and “The Sports Fan”), as he might.
