After her adventure with Kaaktuq the giant, Iviit still can’t stay out of trouble. It’s been a long winter of being stuck inside her family’s iglu, and she is desperate to get out. When Iviit and her brother Pauloosie are sent to check their family’s traps, Iviit ignores her anaanak’s warning about agjaqtut, who kidnap children who play on the sea ice. Iviit isn’t scared of anything! Iviit convinces Pauloosie to cut across the sea ice, and Pauloosie is suddenly pulled into the water. Iviit knows it is her fault. Can Iviit find a way to get her brother back before it’s too late?
Shawna Thomson grew up in southern Ontario but has called Nunavut home since 2011 when she moved to Taloyoak. She currently works as an educator in Iqaluit, where she lives with her husband and their two dogs. Since moving to Nunavut, she has always been fascinated by stories of the giants and the little people. When she is not writing or teaching, she enjoys running, yoga, going hiking with her dogs, or reading historical fiction.
Tamara Campeau works digitally to create her painterly storytelling illustrations. Her work has a strong sense of lighting, naturalistic colours, and dynamic composition. She is strongly inspired by wildlife, children, and the environments in which they reside. She uses this inspiration to add a layer of realism to her work. Campeau’s illustration journey began at Dawson College, where she earned her associate degree in illustration and design. Shortly after, she furthered her studies at Sheridan College, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in illustration.
