This debut photobook from two visionary film directors illustrates an extraordinary, fresh, tense-but-spontaneous artistic sensibility.
“Photography is just another way to feel wrong. Like poetry, like food, like hatred.” So say twin brothers Fabio and Damiano D’Innocenzo in this beautiful, fun, surreal book. Night Pharmacy illustrates the D’Innocenzo brothers’ hunger to see, drawing on their need to express themselves in a multiplicity of artistic languages from drawing to film to photography. The subjects of these photos include landscapes, people, and slices of life, portrayed in a manner that’s fresh, spontaneous, honest, and curious.
Self-taught twin brothers Fabio and Damiano D’Innocenzo made their cinema debut in 2018 with the ¬film La Terra dell’abbastanza, a story about a friendship caught between suburban life, delinquency, and crime, for which they won Best New Director at the Nastro d'Argento awards. Their latest ¬ film, Favolacce, is a dark fable between Italo Calvino and Gianni Rodari. They have also published the collection of poems My Mother is a Weapon. Night Pharmacy is their -first photobook.
