“Books to Awaken, Delight, & Educate.” In its six years, Paul Dry Books has published new works and reissued out-of-print titles (most with new introductions). We have published fiction, both novels and short stories, and nonfiction—biography, memoirs, history, and essays, covering subjects from Homer to Chekhov, bird watching to jazz music, New York City to shogunate Japan. Paul Dry Books translations include several titles on the Holocaust, as well as a work of comic brilliance from Russia, together with meditations on modern-day Germany and on the state of reading today. Readers know that books make our lives more interesting. In the books we particularly like, we sense the author speaking directly to us. Often we talk back, agreeing or disagreeing, pondering, enlarging on—or wondering about—what we have read.
