Karadi Tales is a children's publishing house based in Chennai, India. Karadi Tales was begun in 1996 by a group of writers, educators, and musicians. We are primarily publishers of audio books and picture books for children.
We also create a very special imprint of handmade tactile picture books with text in Braille and English for children with special needs. We have recently forayed into video, applications, and television. Besides this, we are substantially involved in innovative pedagogy for language learning, especially catering to rural and underprivileged schools in India. Since our first title in 1996, our books have been consistently among the highest-selling children's books in India.
Many titles have sold more than one hundred thousand copies and most titles have crossed twenty thousand copies. Each title of Karadi Tales has gone into reprint in less than twelve months of its release. Now with over sixty titles spanning our catalog and many more under production, Karadi Tales has brought together some of India's finest writers and illustrators. Karadi Tales products have won worldwide critical acclaim. We have received great recognition from international bodies including National Association of Parenting Publications of America (NAPPA), White Ravens (Internationale Jugendbibliothek, Germany), International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), and the Dr. Toy awards.
Our picture books have been widely translated and sold in Germany, Korea, China, France, Belgium, Indonesia, Philippines, United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, parts of Latin America, Spain, Denmark, and Sweden. The translations have won critical acclaim in their countries and have made a mark for Indian picture books in the world.
Our picture books provide an aesthetically unique representation of India's diverse culture and geography. These titles are vibrant and colorful, with a multicultural environment and universal themes.
