Text Publishing Company

Text Publishing Company is an independent Australian publisher of a broad range of fiction and nonfiction, international and local, books for adults and young adults. Founded in 1990 by the visionary Diana Gribble, Text is committed to finding books to enlighten, challenge, and entertain. Our authors include Graeme Simsion, Robbie Arnott, Barack Obama, Tim Flannery, Peter Temple, Nick Cave, Lloyd Jones, J. M. Coetzee, Patrick White, Carlos Ruiz Zafón, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and Lucy Ellmann; Miles Franklin Prize winners, Gold Dagger Crime Writing Prize winners, Commonwealth Writers Prize winners, and Nobel Prize winners. Our Text Classics series is a project close to our hearts: a list of outstanding Australian classics, many of which were out of print, brought to a new audience with a fresh series look by our award-winning designer, W.H. Chong. This is a selection of great Australian books by our most celebrated writers, including Kate Grenville, Peter Temple, Madeleine St. John, and Helen Garner. Each book features an introduction by a prominent Australian figure, including Sonya Hartnett, Joan London, Michael Robotham, and Clive James. At Text we want to publish books that make a difference to people's lives. We believe that reading should be a marvelous experience, that every book you read should change your life if only by a fraction. We love the phrase "lost in a book"—that's where we want our readers to be. We hope that somewhere on our list you will find the book that makes the world a different place for you.
