The Gryphon Press publishes award-winning, beautifully illustrated children's picture books about the human–animal bond, books that foster empathy and compassion. Our motto, a voice for the voiceless, expresses our intent to celebrate animal lives and show the issues that animals face. After more than twenty-five years of acquiring and editing books while building Milkweed Editions into a nationally respected, award-winning literary press, Emilie Buchwald founded The Gryphon Press in order to advocate on behalf of animals, large and small, domestic and wild. Our books have won both the ASPCA Henry Bergh Children's Book Award as well as The Humane Society of the United States Youth KIND Children’s Book Award, among others. All our books feature vibrant, compelling art and simple, but evocative text that builds vocabulary in young readers. In addition, all our books have information in the back for parents and other adults who wish to learn more about each topic.
