Boris Pahor is a member of the Slovenian national minority in Italy, and is considered among the greatest living writers in the Slovenian language. Several of his works portray the experiences of World War II concentration camp prisoners, and their attempts to reintegrate into everyday life after the war--a process that Pahor, a Dachau survivor, personally experienced.
Michael Biggins’s translations of works by Slovene authors such as Drago Jančar, Tomaž Šalamun, Vladimir Bartol, and Lojze Kovačič have been published by Harcourt, Archipelago and Dalkey Archive, among others. In 2015 he was awarded the Lavrin Diploma of the Society of Slovene Literary Translators for distinguished contributions to the advancement of Slovene literature in English. He lives in Seattle.
